Tips to Win a Blackjack Game

Avoid Blackjack games with a 6 to 5 (6:5) payout: Play Blackjack games offering a 3 to 2 (3:2) payout. Playing an 8-deck Blackjack game offering a 3:2 payout has more rewards to offer than playing a 6:5 payout single deck game.

Look for Blackjack games with the most favourable table rules around: One table rule you should look out for is one where the dealer will ‘Stand’ on a ‘Soft 17’. Also, make sure you apply the ‘Surrender’ rule option if you play either a 6 or 8-deck Blackjack game.

Avoid using Martingale Betting System: In this betting system, you are required to double your betting sum in the event of losing a hand. Well, losing a hand in Blackjack is anything but unusual. With this betting system, you will keep increasing your bets by twice their amount with each new wager, and it is not what you want to do, especially as a beginner. 

A dealer has a greater possibility of making a hand rather than a ‘Bust’ if they show either a 5 or 6. You do not need to double a 7 or lower if a dealer’s cards show a 5 or 6 value card. 

Avoid placing wagers without careful thought: Emotional betting can be dangerous. Make sure you know your bet and how your hands will be played.  

Avoid wagering your entire bankroll: Make sure you have sufficient bankroll for making game-changing playing decisions. You need money to ‘Double’ or even ‘Split’ a hand if need be. 

Do not ‘Double down’ on 4,4: Having a 4,4 hand is a ‘Hit’ except the dealer has a 5 or 6 value card. In this case, you can execute the ‘Split’ option.

When you have a soft 15 or 16 hand while the hand of the dealer consists of a 4, 5 or 6 card value

When you have a soft 17 or 18 hand while the hand of the dealer includes a 3 or 6 card

When you have a hand with a card value of 9 while the dealer’s hand consists of a card value ranging from 2 to 8

When you have a hand with a card value of 10, the dealer’s hand is made up of 9 or less.

When you have a hand with a card value of 11, the dealer’s hand consists of a card value of 10 or an Ace.

Be careful using the ‘Surrender’ rule option: You should ‘Surrender’ your 16 hands when faced with the dealer’s Ace, 10 or 9. You can also ‘Surrender’ your 15 hand against the dealer’s 10 hand. However, this tip is most effective if you are playing a multiple deck Blackjack game and you are not by any means counting cards.       

Do not ‘Stand’ on a ‘Soft 17’: A ‘Soft 17’ hand will not ‘Bust’ when it takes a ‘Hit’. In addition to this, a ‘Soft 17’ hand will ‘Push’ on a dealer’s 17 when you ‘Stand’. A ‘Soft 17’ hand should be a ‘Double’ or ‘Hit’.

Do not ‘Split’ a hand with a couple of 10s: If you have a hand with a pair of 10s, you have a fantastic hand with a combined card value of 20, which is just one behind a Blackjack. With a hand of two 10s, the dealer can only win by playing a ‘Hit’ with a Blackjack valued at 21, which is a hard task.   

Don’t ‘Split’ your hand if you have a couple of 5s: This hand has a combined playing card value equivalent to 10. If you have this hand, the best thing you should do is to ‘Double’. With a ‘Split’, you double your possibility of having a couple of hands, each having a card value of 10. It is much better to have a single hand with a 10 than two hands with a 10 card value because you really cannot do too much with the latter. Note that this tip also applies to a pair of 10s and 4s.

You should ‘Stand’ if you have a hard 17 hand: ‘Stand’ with a hard 17 card value or better since 17 is much closer to 21 and gives you a good chance of winning.
